Where The King’s Legacy Meets a Bright New Future

Where The King’s Legacy Meets a Bright Future — The spirit of Arnold Palmer’s iconic design still defines King’s North, but 2024 and 2025 marked the start of a new era. Following a two-year renovation led by architect Brandon Johnson, the course’s back nine reopened in October 2025, completing a full transformation that began with the front nine in 2024. Johnson’s work honors Palmer’s original vision while introducing modern enhancements that elevate both playability and aesthetics. With new greens, refined contours, and beautifully refreshed scenery, King’s North now offers a renewed experience that feels as timeless as it is forward-looking — a true revival of one of Myrtle Beach’s most celebrated courses.

King’s North Reimagined: A Classic Reborn for a New Era

Arnold Palmer’s King’s North has long captured golfers’ imaginations, and its 2024–2025 renovation ensures this Myrtle Beach classic continues to shine. Greens were rebuilt and expanded with smooth TifEagle bermudagrass, bunkers reshaped with advanced liners and premium sand, and green surrounds softened to invite more creativity. The course’s rugged, sandy character endures—especially on the iconic par-5 “Gambler”—but with modern craftsmanship and conditioning.

We paid homage to the original features, but we’ve presented them in a fresh way. Golfers will see restored fairway width, new strategic options into and around the greens, and imaginative recovery opportunities that make every round unique. ~ Brandon Johnson, Lead Architect
